Biological Activity

SC 79 is an activator of Akt; binds to the pleckstrin homology domain of Akt. Enhances Akt phosphorylation by upstream protein kinases; also enables cytosolic activation of Akt. Shown to suppress excitotoxicity-induced neuronal death in vitro and in vivo. Exhibits brain penetrance.
