Carrier Free
CF stands for Carrier Free (CF). We typically add Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) as a carrier protein to our recombinant proteins. Adding a carrier protein enhances protein stability, increases shelf-life, and allows the recombinant protein to be stored at a more dilute concentration. The carrier free version does not contain BSA.
In general, we advise purchasing the recombinant protein with BSA for use in cell or tissue culture, or as an ELISA standard. In contrast, the carrier free protein is recommended for applications, in which the presence of BSA could interfere.

Scientific Data
Immobilized Recombinant Mouse EpCAM/TROP1 (Catalog # 9364-EP) enhances L Cells mouse fibroblasts adhesion in the presence of Human Fibronectin (Catalog # 1918-FN). The ED50 for this effect is 0.4-2.4 µg/mL.
Background: EpCAM/TROP1
Epithelial Cellular Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM), also known as KS1/4, gp40, GA733-2, 17-1A, CD326 and TROP‑1, is a 40 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein composed of a 243 amino acid (aa) extracellular domain with two epidermal-growth-factor-like (EGF‑like) repeats, a 23 aa transmembrane domain, and a 26 aa cytoplasmic domain. Human and mouse EpCAM share 82% aa sequence identity. In mouse, EpCAM also shares 51% aa sequence homology with Trop‑2. EpCAM is detected in basolateral cell membranes of all simple epithelia and expression has been found to increase in epithelia tissues during fetal development (1, 2). EpCAM has been shown to function as a homophilic Ca2+ independent adhesion molecule, but it does not structurally resemble any of the four major families of cell adhesion molecules (3). Homophilic adhesion via EpCAM requires the interaction of both EGF‑like repeats, with the first EGF‑like repeat mediating reciprocal interaction between EpCAM molecules on opposing cells, while the second repeat is involved in lateral interaction of EpCAM (4). EpCAM has been identified as a surface marker for pluripotent embryonic stem cells and is strongly associated with the maintenance of the undifferentiated state of ESCs (5). EpCAM is highly expressed on the surface of epithelial cancer cells including colon, stomach, lung, pancreas, prostate and breast (6, 7).

FAQs
-
Can you please provide the sequence of the Recombinant Mouse EpCAM/TROP1 Fc Chimera Protein, CF (Catalog # 9364-EP) and confirm that there is only one band in SDS-PAGE?
The sequence information of Recombinant Mouse EpCAM/TROP1 Fc Chimera Protein, CF (Catalog # 9364-EP) can be found under the Source section of the product datasheet. It is an NS0-derived mouse EpCAM/TROP1 protein with Gln24 & Arg81-Thr266 amino acid sequence that is fused to Mouse IgG2a via a linker sequence. Under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE the protein migrates as a broad band at ~58-75 kDa and an 8 kDa band as well. More information can be requested by contacting techsupport@bio-techne.com.
