Background: MyD88

MyD88 was first identified as a myeloid differentiation primary response protein. It contains a cytoplasmic Toll/interleukin-1 receptor (TIR) domain and is classified as a member of the TIR superfamily. MyD88 is expressed in many adult tissues including heart, kidney and liver tissue and in monocyte, T, B, NK and dendritic cells.
