Scientific Data
IkB‑ epsilon in Human Astrocytoma. IkB-e was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human astrocytoma using Goat Anti-Human IkB-e Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF4300) at 3 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C. Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # CTS013). Tissue was stained using the Anti-Goat HRP-DAB Cell & Tissue Staining Kit (brown; Catalog # CTS008) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm of neurons. View our protocol for Chromogenic IHC Staining of Paraffin-embedded Tissue Sections.

Background: IkB-epsilon
NF kappa B inhibitor epsilon (IkB-epsilon ) inhibits the NF kappa B complex by binding and sequestering it in the cytoplasm. Upon stimulation, IkB-epsilon is phosphorylated on serine residues marking it for degradation by the ubiquitin pathway. Following IkB-epsilon degradation, the NF kappa B complex is able to translocate to the nucleus and activate transcription.
