Preparation and Storage
Background: CXCL7/NAP-2
CXCL7, also known as NAP-2, is a 11 kDa angiogenic alpha -chemokine that is produced by the proteolytic cleavage of the inactive 13 kDa platelet basic protein (PBP). PBP, CXCL7, and C-terminally truncated forms of CXCL7 are secreted by monocytes and platelets. Active CXCL7 binds CXCR2 and induces the chemoattration of monocytes, neutrophils, and endothelial progenitor cells. It also inhibits megakaryocytopoiesis in the bone marrow. Within the region included in this immunogen, human CXCL7 shares 52% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat CXCL7.
