Scientific Data
Detection of 5-HT2B in HEK293 cells transfected with Human HTR2B and eGFP vs Irrelevant cells by Flow Cytometry. HEK293 cells transfected with Human HTR2B and eGFP vs Irrelevant were stained with eGFP and either (A) Rabbit Anti-Human 5-HT2B Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB11297) or (B) Normal Rabbit IgG Control (Catalog # MAB1050) followed by Allophycocyanin-conjugated Anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # F0111). View our protocol for Staining Membrane-associated Proteins.
Detection of 5-HT2B in Rat Brain Cerebellum. 5-HT2B was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of Rat Brain Cerebellum using Rabbit Anti-Human 5-HT2B Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB11297) at 5 µg/mL overnight at 4 °C. Tissue was stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Anti-Rabbit IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL004) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in neurons. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Background: 5-HT2B
HTR2B is a G-protein coupled receptor for serotonin. The 5HT2 receptors mediate many of the central and peripheral physiologic functions of serotonin. 5HT2B plays a role in the regulation of dopamine and serotonin release, serotonin uptake and in the regulation of extracellular dopamine and serotonin levels. It also plays a role in pulmonary vasoconstriction and regulating cardiac structure and functions. 5HT2B receptors were shown to be expressed in human failing heart and have been strongly implicated in drug induced valvular heart disease.
